The General Music curriculum at Mesquite elementary is built upon the Orff method.  The overarching philosophy of Orff is summed up by the quote “Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember.
Involve me, I understand."
-Carl Orff

Carl Orff was a music educator and composer who worked with musicians, dancers and  educators to make music more accessible to our youngest artists.  He created the Orff method used in elementary classrooms around the world, which embraces interactive learning and places a high value on nurturing the creativity of our grade school students.  Carl Orff saw the need for classroom instruments engineered to allow the youngest students to explore and play musically.  These xylophones, glockenspiels and percussion instruments are a result of Orff’s work to put music in the hands of young musicians.

About Me

I have been teaching music in Arizona’s public schools since 2003 and I am excited to be apart of the Gilbert Public Schools family.

I grew up in California and attended Pepperdine University where I graduated with a double Bachelors in Music Education and Vocal Performance.

Upon moving to Arizona, I received my  Masters in Music Education at ASU, and continued my lifelong love of learning by becoming a National Board Certified Teacher in 2017.

When I’m not engrossed in schoolwork, I enjoy singing karaoke, hiking, going to the movies, reading, gardening, cooking and playing with my dogs Pandora & Ajax.
